Episode 1.3Edit

There were several Pterosaurs Nick saw on the Beach of the Cretaceous. It is thought these are Pteranodons, as it is at the perfect time and era, with Mosasaurs roaming the seas. (Episode 1.3).

Episode 1.5Edit

One came through an anomaly into a golf course. It was blamed for the death of a golfer, although in reality it was a flock of Anurognathus.

It chased Connor and Rex. It later flew to a city, but was tranquilized. It was proven not to have killed the golfer, first because its dung contained only fish, and because of the discovery of the Anurognathus. It was later sent back to its era (Episode 1.5).

Episode 2.2Edit

A Pteranodon attacks Helen Cutter after she steals one of its eggs, though this is unrelated to the events of the previous episode. (Episode 2.2)

Episode 3.10Edit

Another Pteranodon attacks Helen again when trying to reach an anomaly out of the Cretaceous (Episode 3.10).

Episode 4.1Edit

Some pterosaurs are seen in the background in the Cretaceous, and if one looks closely, they are the same model as the ones in Episode 1.3, which is the same as the Pteranodon (Episode 4.1).

Eye StrainEdit

During a Primeval comic book a Pterosaur (possibly Pteranodon) rampages through the South Bank of London. (Eye Strain).

New WorldEdit

A Pteranodon has been confirmed to appear in Primeval: New World in an interview with Martin Wood.

Non-CanonEdit

At least one Pteranodon is caught up in Chaos the Anomaly Creature.

TriviaEdit

  • Pteranodon is Latin for Toothless Wing.
  • Pteranodon, along with Rex and the Future Predator, are the only animals to appear in all of the first 3 series.
  • Pteranodon and Anurognathus are the only flying vertebrates the team encounters, Coelurosauravus being incapable of full powered flight; only gliding.
  • This is the largest flying creature the team has encountered.
  • The Pteranodon did not return in series 4, though some officially unknown pterosaurs(possibly Alanqa) are seen flying in Episode 4.1.
  • This is the first Pterosaur in Primeval.
  • The pterosaurs in 1.3, 4.1 and Eye Strain are possibly Pteranodons. This is unlikely in 4.1, due to the presence of a Spinosaurus.
  • Pteranodon is the first pterosaur to be encountered by the team( 1.3 does not count as Nick only had a brief glimpse).
