The Primeverse is the universe in which Primeval takes place, and encompasses all locations in the show. Its history stretches from billions of years ago to the far future. The word "Primeverse" is a pormanteau of the two words "Primeval" and "Universe".

Differences from the real worldEdit

The Primeverse differs, in several aspects, from our own universe. The room temperature superconducter was invented by Philip Burton sometime before 2011, while in the real world it hasn't even been invented at all yet. (Episode 4.1) Also, Sarcopterygians in the Primeverse went extinct at least 70 million years ago. (Episode 1.1) Many prehistoric creatures in the Primeverse each had some minor differences from their real world counterparts as well. The biggest known difference between real life and the Primeverse is the Anomalies, which are not believed to exist in our universe.

Similarities to the real worldEdit

The Primeverse, though different from our own universe, is also similar in that it is believed to be approximately the same age, and its history is split into the same five geological eras as the history of our own universe: the Precambrian, the Paleozoic, the Mesozoic, the Cenozoic, and the Future. Life forms roughly identical to ours inhabit the Primeverse, and they evolved along a similar evolutionary track. The Primeverse's future is inhabited by creatures that may or may not evolve in our universe's future.
