UK blurb

« "Professor Nick Cutter is having a very bad day. He has returned from the past to find that the world he knew has changed dramatically and a key member of the team has gone missing. Not only that, it appears she might never have existed. As if that weren't enough to keep him busy, this time around the anomalies are appearing more frequently than ever and the creatures are bigger, meaner, and even more deadly than before.

The ever present threat of Helen's return plays on Nick's mind, and as he grapples with the mind bending reality of his situation, he knows it is not a question of if she comes back, but when? And for what purpose? The strange disappearance of Claudia Brown is just one of the continuing mysteries at the heart of this series.

There are also the anomalies themselves of course, which remain as enigmatic as ever - but in the course of the series Cutter will make a significant discovery that helps the team in their struggle to keep creatures from the past and future at bay." »

Australian blurb

Upon his return to the present, the world as he knows it has changed. And he and Helen are the only one's who know.

Claudia Brown has never existed and the other members of Cutter's team have know idea who she was. Can Cutter convince them that their actions have inadvertently altered the course of nature? Although he has no idea what went wrong or how he can fix it...

Along the way the team encounter some beastly opponents that are continuing to find their way through the anomalies. From a family of raptors going wild in the aisles of a shopping mall, a sabre-tooth at an amusement park, to a Woolly Mammoth holding up the traffic on the M25, the creatures just keep coming..." »

With events getting ever wilder, creatures steeped in accent folklore begin to make an appearance and it becomes clear that the origins of myths and legends are linked with the mysterious anomalies. But it's not just deadly creatures the team has to contend with; the cloak of secrecy behind which they have been working is beginning to slip and questions are being asked as the conspiracy speeds its net wide.

And as deadlier creatures continue to rampage through the anomalies - the team faces a threat to the future of not just the ARC but of mankind itself..." »
