Christine Johnson's military was an organisation set up by the Minister and headed by Christine Johnson. The organisation was oestensibly the military liaison for the Anomaly Research Centre, intended to provide additional military support in the event of particularly tough incursions, but they were never observed helping the ARC and even at one point staged a hostile takeover of it. Instead, they seemingly focused their time and energy studying the Anomalies, the Future Predators and a post-apocalyptic future for Johnson's own purposes and considerable ambitions. The organisation's headquarters was a large, modern building in reasonably close proximity to the ARC building.

History[]

At some point the Minister arranged for Christine to return from an MI6 base in Jamaica to head the organisation in England. On Johnson's orders, Captain Ross led a group of soldiers through an Anomaly to the future to recover a mysterious Artifact. They successfully found and recovered it, but the group were then attacked and slaughtered by a pack of Future Predators; only Ross escaped with his life, but he was forced to leave the Artifact behind. (Episode 3.1)

Episode 3.1[]

The organisation was temporarily based at a Home Office building. Christine called James Lester from the ARC to 'brag' about her new job, though he had not been informed about the line of work. Lester traveled to the Home Office to discuss the organisation with Christine but Ross interrupted them so she rescheduled Lester for another meeting. Ross informed Christine about how his mission had failed to her anger.

Interim[]

At some point the organisation move to a larger building, closer to the ARC presumably because there was a permanent Anomaly to the future located there. The organisation set up a cloaking device to hide the Anomaly's presence from the ARC and continued sending missions to the future.

Episode 3.4[]

A Future Predator was recovered by Johnson's men, taken back to her headquarters and studied. While surgeons were operating/examining on the Predator (for unknown reasons) it awoke, and the room was evacuated. Christine ordered it terminated before it could escape via channeling electricity into the room it was in, but doing so required a temporary suspension of the cloaking device.

The Anomaly Detection Device at the ARC subsequently detected Johnson's Anomaly and the ARC team headed to the headquarters to investigate. Upon arrival, they were detained by a number of soldiers and denied permission to investigate, with Johnson coldly rebuffing them with assurances that James Lester and the ARC had no authority over the organisation. This only served to make the ARC personnel extremely suspicious of Johnson and certain that she was up to something, thus resolving to keep a close eye on her from then on.

Episode 3.5[]

Christine Johnson, accompanied by Captain Wilder and Mark Baker, arrives at the ARC just as it is preparing to go and deal with an Anomaly in a Central London flat, oestensibly to tour the facility and discuss a replacement for the recently deceased Nick Cutter. In reality, however, Johnson's visit is a cover for her to try and find out if the ARC are in possession of the Artifact, last seen in the possession of Helen Cutter when she set off a bomb in the ARC. Whilst Johnson tries unsuccessfully to get Wilder appointed as the new team leader (so she can have a spy in the ARC), Baker snoops around and discovers a sample of the Future Fungus in a lab, foolishly touching it and getting himself infected by spores. Johnson is furious and accuses the ARC of killing her man, but is coldly rebuffed as he was trespassing in a secure zone and is advised to leave for her own safety. As she does, she and Wilder discuss their moles planted in the facility's maintenance staff and Johnson orders the ARC to be placed under surveillance. Wilder is ultimately not appointed as team leader, with Lester instead choosing Danny Quinn (partly to spite Johnson).

Episode 3.6[]

Johnson's surveillance allows her to spy on the ARC's daily activities and discover, to her fury, that the ARC does indeed possess the Artifact, which they successfully manage to activate and discover that it can predict anomalies. Johnson has her men storm the ARC and initiates a hostile takeover of the facility, capturing and imprisoning most of the personnel with the exception of the main ARC team who manage to escape with the Artifact. Lester's position is revoked and he is escorted out with the remaining staff being forced to transfer their allegiance to Johnson, though their true loyalty remains with Lester. Johnson assigns Captain Hilary Becker to find the team and recapture the Artifact, badmouthing the Minister in the process and running the place as essentially her own personal hit squad. When an Anomaly is detected at a rural cabin, Johnson dispatches Ross and a soldier to contain it; they run across and briefly capture the team there, but the soldier is killed by a Terror Bird and Ross dies when his car runs over a mine and blows up. Becker is then sent and successfully captures the team and the Artifact, but Johnson does not keep it for long. Lester returns and reveals that Becker was secretly loyal to him, having recorded Johnson's less than flattering remarks about the Minister. As such, Johnson loses her position and she and her soldiers are escorted from the ARC for a meeting with the very upset Minister.

Episode 3.8[]

Captain Wilder captures Eve in the future, presumably having used the anomaly at Johnson's HQ; this was observed by Danny Quinn who was with the ARC team having gone through a different anomaly to the future city, but he is unable to intervene as he was escaping from a battle between Predators and Megopteran. Wilder gave Christine Eve's diary and a strange glass device, though she dismissed the former returning it and the bag to Eve.

Episode 3.9[]

Danny Quinn broke into the headquarters to find Eve. Wilder spotted him, but Danny was able to escape with the future woman. Christine headed to the the ARC with an arrest warrant for Danny. Once there, Eve revealed herself to be Helen Cutter and took Christine hostage, forcing the team to give her the Artifact. Helen then took Johnson to the anomaly within her base and forced her through it. Helen escaped as Danny and the others reached her. The anomaly closed, then re-opens, and a terrified, blood-spattered Johnson collapsed through it. The team tried to drag her to safety but the Future Predator pulled her through and killed her, the Anomaly closed immediately after.

Shut down[]

With the death of its leader, the organisation is subsequently shut down with the headquarters being cleared out and the cloaking device deactivated. However a few soldiers remain in the facility for unknown reasons (possibly including Captain Wilder) and are killed when a trio of Megopteran come through the reopened anomaly from the future. (Episode 3.10)

Trivia[]

  • The exact nature of Christine Johnson's military is unknown, some fans believe the Minister actually set up the organisation to be a military liaison for the ARC but Christine abused her position to study the Anomalies, the predators and the future.
  • The organisation was believed by Helen Cutter to be behind the creation of the Future Predators and subsequent destruction of life on Earth in the future. Evidence supporting this was the experiment on one Future Predator by Johnson's scientists with her hopes of harnessing its powers. Since the future remained unchanged by Johnson's death and the dissolution of the organisation, however, it is likely this was not the case.
