Pre-Series 2 (Original Timeline)Edit
Caroline was never seen before Cutter's changes in the timeline. Presumably she still existed in some way.
Pre-Series 2 (New Timeline)Edit
Much of Caroline Steele's past is unknown. However, it is known that at some point, she met Oliver Leek who paid her to spy on Connor Temple and Abby Maitland, which she agreed to do without questioning his agenda.
Episode 2.2Edit
She met Connor in a DVD rental shop, flirting with him, and after asking for his opinion on sci-fi movies was invited to his and Abby's flat. Once there, she met Abby and Rex, though both seemed to take an instant dislike to her, as Rex tried to bite her hand. When Abby and Connor were called away, Caroline wrote her mobile number on his hand, asking him to call her. During his time dealing with fog worms, Connor was covered with slime and ended up losing Caroline's number. However when he and Abby returned, so did Caroline, having apparently forgotten her phone. Connor asked her out for a drink, and she agreed, inviting Abby to join them but Abby declined.
Episode 2.3Edit
Caroline was waiting to meet with Connor for a coffee, however when he arrived he claimed he had to go and do a presentation for his studies. Caroline was disappointed, and tried to convince him to stay, but he couldn't and left her. Left alone, Caroline looked at a picture of Rex on her phone. Later she texted Connor while he was at the Blue Sky Park, and arrived to meet with Leek in his car. He gave her money and while she complained about her work she agreed to continue, saying she would be in touch.
Episode 2.4Edit
Caroline spent a lot of time at the flat, and Abby barely tolerated Caroline. She switched off Connor's phone on Leek's orders to delay the pair. She revealed she had made a meal for her and Connor, and to an extent Abby, and before they started eating Abby's phone rang. She and Connor left, Caroline wondering why they both had to go, and called in to Leek, who wasn't happy that she hadn't delayed them any longer. After Rex ruined the food, she stuck him in the freezer and waited for Connor and Abby to return, pretending to be asleep. After Abby found Rex, Caroline claimed it was an accident, and Abby ordered her to leave. She later appeared for a date with Connor.
Episode 2.5Edit
Connor decided to end it with Caroline and, despite Abby's recomendation, he dumped her by text. Being at the flat when she recieved the text, she packed up her things and prepared to leave, only to hesitate. She left Rex some food on the floor, and prepared to hit him with a tennis racket, only for him to fly off. Caroline threw all sorts of objects at him until she finally managed to bring him down. When Connor and Abby returned, they discovered Rex was missing, Caroline having taken Rex with her.
Episode 2.6Edit
Caroline met with Leek and offered him Rex, and he agreed and gave her more money. She asked if Connor was going to get hurt, dismissing Leek's own question of her caring for Connor. She then asked Leek what he was actually doing, so he offered to show her. He took her to the bunker. Meanwhile, Connor tracked Caroline's phone so that they could find Rex. Essentially it was Caroline who led Nick Cutter, Jenny Lewis, Abby and Connor into Leek's trap.
Episode 2.7Edit
While Leek and Helen Cutter were overseeing the advancement of their plans, Caroline asked to go, having decided she had seen enough. However Leek took her to the cell with Connor and Abby in it, essentially revealing her work for him. Abby demanded to know what Caroline had done with Rex, and although Caroline didn't care, Abby engaged her in a fight. Connor split them up and while Caroline thanked Connor for his help, he said he hadn't done it for her. Soon Leek lead her into his creature holding cell. Caroline was frightened and assured Leek she wouldn't say anything to anyone, however he locked her back in the cell. Jenny told her to stop snivelling, while Abby, having realised Caroline was a victim in all this, was more sympathetic, which was when Caroline apologised to the pair for her trouble. The group were later locked in a room with a Smilodon, and while Caroline wanted to run off on her own, Abby convinced her to stay in a group. When the creature ran off and the facility lost power, Caroline joined the group in escaping. After realising Rex had found a way out, they were shot at, and Caroline asked for the chance to redeem herself by taking an injured Rex out of the facility, and Abby thanked her. At Stephen Hart's funeral, Caroline apologised to Connor once again for what she had done, and reminded him that he still had her number if he wanted to talk.
