Caroline Steel worked in secret with Oliver Leek, though she did not know about his motives, or about the anomalies.

Caroline was never seen before Cutter's changes in the timeline. Presumably she still existed, just like Jenny Lewis.

She met Connor Temple in a DVD rental shop and gave him her number.(Episode 2.2) Connor couldn't believe his luck, and was content for some time. Caroline spent a lot of time at Abby and Connor's flat, and Abby often barely tolerated Caroline. However in Episode 2.4 he revealed (to Abby and, really, himself) that he loved Abby. After this he decided to end it with Caroline and, despite Abby's protests, he dumped her by text. This was the first time Caroline has experienced a dumping - she always did the dumping in a relationship - and upon seeing the text, she immediately left, and took Rex with her.

Caroline had been working for Leek, gathering information, particularly on Rex. In Episode 2.4 she stuck him in a fridge, nearly killing him. Eventually she took him to Leek. She did all this for payment, and had no idea what Leek was really up to. She showed compassion for Connor, worrying that he was going to get hurt. She herself said that she was 'human'. In Episode 2.6, she asked Leek what he was actually doing, so he offered to show her. He took her to the bunker. In order to retrieve Rex, Connor tracked Caroline's phone. Essentially it was Caroline who led Nick Cutter, Jenny, Abby and Connor into Leek's trap.

After Caroline realized the magnitude of Leek's plan, she quickly tried to back out. Leek threw her into the cell with Connor and Abby, leading to a confrontation with Abby ending in a fight. Connor split them up, though he said he didn't do it for her. Caroline eventually redeemed herself when, on the escape from the bunker, she carried an injured Rex out. She later offered to actually start properly seeing Connor, but he didn't take her up on it. (Episode 2.7)
