The Anomaly Locking Mechanism is a device created by Connor Temple to seal anomalies and prevent creatures from coming through. It works by "reversing the polarity" of the anomaly. The same device can also reverse the process, thereby unlocking a locked anomaly. Also, it prevents anomalies from closing.

HistoryEdit

Extinction EventEdit

The possibility of the Anomaly Locking Mechanism was first considered when the asteroid and the K-T extinction event was awaiting the Cretaceous world linked via an anomaly to Siberia. Nick Cutter, realising that the impact would also affect the present, asked Connor to try to build a device to close the anomaly. Connor hacks into the Russian Military computers and uses a prototype weapon to close the Anomaly.

Episode 3.1Edit

Connor invented principle of Anomaly locking mechanism, when he pushed reflector into anomaly and mistakenly sealed it by electricity.

Episode 3.4Edit

Connor works on the mechanism shortly after Cutter's death. After Danny Quinn lures a Giganotosaurus back through an anomaly in an Airport, Connor uses the mechanism for the first time before a whole herd of them come through. The test is successful and the anomaly is locked. It is immediately adopted as a regular item of kit and its use very quickly becomes routine. Although Connor initially insists that it is a complex device, it is actually very simple and requires no real skill to use, so it can be operated even by a non-technician like Sarah Page (who is left in charge of it in both Episode 3.8 and Episode 3.10).

Episode 3.7Edit

The device was used to lock an anomaly when a Dracorex and Sir William de Mornay, a medieval european knight came through into the present day. It was later unlocked to allow Sarah Page to go through the anomaly and into medieval times to obtain information about the knight that came through previously. She instructed the man in charge of guarding the anomaly to lock the anomaly after she went through and unlock it exactly an hour later to allow her to return. During her trip she came across a small village and bribed a medieval child with chocolate in order to obtain the information she desired.

Episode 3.8Edit

After dealing with a Megopteran that came through an anomaly in a Race Circuit, the anomaly is locked. It was activated accidentally when Jack Maitland knocked it over in trying to escape from a Megopteran, leaving him stranded in the future. The team were able to rescue him despite being hindered by Megopteran and Future Predators.

Episode 3.10Edit

When Danny, Connor and Abby go through the race circuit anomaly to the Future City. Danny tells Sarah to lock the anomaly again using the Anomaly Locking Mechanism once they have gone, then re-open it in two hours. They didn't return. Later, the anomaly was unlocked so Sarah and Becker could launch four rescue missions to the future, they failed and Sarah was killed. (S4 Prequel Episode 1)

Episode 4.1Edit

When Connor and Abby return after a year in the Cretaceous, the anomaly they went through is immediately locked. Connor tries to use Helen Cutter's Anomaly Opening Device he used to get home, to fully close the anomaly to show off to new team leader Matt Anderson. Connor makes a mistake and accidently unlocks it, letting through a Spinosaurus that was stalking him.

Episode 4.3Edit

When Matt chased the time nomad Emily Merchant through an anomaly in a Theatre to the Cretaceous, Becker had the anomaly locked thinking hope was lost for Matt, just as Matt took an injured Emily back to the anomaly. Connor convincd Becker to unlock the anomaly, he did so and Matt and Emily returned. The anomaly was immediately locked although the team were oblivious to the fact that two Arboreal Dinosaurs were loose. The threat was soon dealt with and the anomaly was locked again.

Episode 4.4Edit

During an incursion in McKinnon School, a pack of Therocephalians come through. After locating the anomaly in the school's canteen, Becker locks the anomaly.

Episode 4.6Edit

An anomaly opens in the basement of a stately home. Matt, Abby and Connor lock the anomaly thinking no creatures have come through. A male Hyenadon then attacks but is knocked unconcious by the EMD's. The anomaly is then presumbably unlocked and then locked again once the Hyenadon is put through. Connor later finds two Hyenadon puppys and unlocks the anomaly and slides them through the anomaly in a bin. An adult Hyenadon then attacks and the male Hyenadon comes back through. After the puppy and the two adults break up Jenny Lewis's wedding, Abby tells Matt that the creatures were sent back through and that the anomaly was locked.

Episode 4.7Edit

Connor uses the anomaly locking device to seal the two anomalys leading to the Pliocene and Victorian era. However the anomaly acts strange due to two anomalys being open on the same spot and so the anomaly unlocks itself. Connor then tries to relock it and when it doesn't work, checks for a problem with the device. When he can't find one he asks Jess for the replacement one to be sent. (A replacement one probably exists to avoid another incedent where Jack Maitland ran over the only existing one with a car). Later, Patrick Quinn uses the anomaly locking device to unlock the anomaly to the Pliocene which he used to escape the ARC team.

Episode 5.2Edit

Due to the anomaly opening in the middle of the North Sea, Connor made another anomaly locking device which he put inside a torpedo. At first, the captain of the submarine was reluctant to let the device on board as he felt that it was a weapon but Matt assured him it was scientific equipment. The anomaly device was later sent through the anomaly to the Jurassic era, locking it as it passed through.

Episode 5.3Edit

After coaxing a raptor back through the anomaly it came out of into an art gallery in the present day, Abby locked the anomaly. After discovering that the anomaly did not lead to the raptors true time, and to the Victorian era instead, Abby unlocked the anomaly so Matt could go through and find the raptor. After getting Emily and the raptor through, the anomaly was later locked to avoid anyone else coming through (like the angry mob).

Episode 5.4Edit

While the anomaly locking device is not used in this episode, Matt locks the man-made anomaly with Connors anomaly device.

Episode 5.5Edit

During Convergence, Abby and Becker deal with an incursion of Fog Worms in a school. Afterwards, Abby locks the anomaly with the anomaly locking device. Jess is also heard telling Lester that she needs more anomaly locking devices for the many teams out there implying there are many duplicates of the anomaly locking device.
